Lagos CP inspects accident scene, pledges justice for deceased LASU student

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, has visited the site of the road accident that led to the death of a student of Lagos State University, assuring that justice will be served.

This was made known in a statement released on Sunday night by the police command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi.

According to the statement, Tijani, alongside senior officers, carried out an on-the-spot assessment of the crash location as part of ongoing investigations.

During the visit, the police delegation also engaged with members of the university’s Students’ Union, addressing their concerns over the tragic incident.

Adebisi stated that the commissioner praised the students for remaining calm and exercising restraint despite the loss of their colleague.

She added that Tijani assured them that the driver involved would be charged to court on Monday for prosecution.

The spokesperson reaffirmed the command’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and the safety of lives in the state.

She also expressed condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased.

The visit comes after the death of a 300-level student, Azeezat Abdul-Rasheed, who was hit by a vehicle around 7:00 p.m. on Saturday in the Igando area of Lagos.

Following the incident, a video shared on X by a student identified as @Khennybass captured a group of students protesting at the Area M Police Division in Idimu.

The protesting students accused the police of trying to protect the driver involved in the accident and demanded justice for their fallen colleague.
