Manchester United have confirmed the departure of women’s team head coach Marc Skinner by mutual consent, just weeks before the start of the 2026/27 Women’s Super League (WSL) season.
Skinner, who took charge of the team in 2021, ends a four-year spell during which he oversaw significant progress and guided the club to its first major women’s trophy.
The 41-year-old made history by leading Manchester United Women to FA Cup glory in 2024, securing the club’s maiden major title in the women’s game.
Announcing the development on Monday, the club praised Skinner for his impact on the team’s growth.
“Marc Skinner has departed his role as head coach of Manchester United Women by mutual agreement,” the club said in a statement.
“Marc leaves having made a significant contribution to the continued progress of Manchester United Women.”
United Begin Search For New Manager
Skinner’s exit comes with the new WSL season fast approaching. Manchester United Women finished fourth in the league last season, ending the campaign 15 points behind champions Manchester City.
The Red Devils are scheduled to kick off the 2026/27 campaign with an away match against London City Lionesses on September 4.
The club is now expected to begin the process of appointing a new head coach as preparations continue for the upcoming season.
Skinner’s tenure comes to a close after four years in which he helped transform Manchester United Women into one of the league’s leading sides, highlighted by the club’s historic FA Cup triumph.
