A married woman and mother of five has been found dead at the residence of her male friend, identified as Lucky Isuma, in the Sabon Gari area of Kano.
The woman, Sandra, who was said to be from Abia State, was confirmed dead on April 11, 2026, at No. 47 Aitken Road, Sabon Gari.
According to unverified reports from neighbours, she had requested food shortly before her death, and her host had stepped out to get it when the incident occurred.
The spokesperson of the Kano State Police Command, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the development, noting that the man involved has been taken into custody.
He explained that on April 11, 2026, around 10:30 a.m., a 22-year-old resident, Chidera Nwobi, reported at the Sabon Gari Police Division that he discovered a woman, believed to be about 30 years old, lying unresponsive on a bed inside his neighbour’s room.
Police detectives were immediately deployed to the scene, where the victim was examined and photographed. Authorities stated that no visible signs of violence were found on her body.
She was later taken to Muhammadu Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital, where a doctor confirmed her death.
The Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has ordered that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a detailed probe.
The police assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, with findings to be made known once concluded.
