Mauricio Pochettino has signed a new long-term contract with U.S. Soccer, extending his tenure as head coach of the United States men’s national team until 2030.
The former Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea manager, who took charge in September 2024, earned the extension after guiding the United States to the Round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup on home soil.
U.S. Soccer announced that Pochettino’s new deal also broadens his responsibilities beyond the senior national team. He and his coaching staff will now contribute to youth development, coaching education, collaboration with professional leagues, and other technical initiatives aimed at strengthening football across the country.
Speaking after signing the new agreement, Pochettino said he was excited about the opportunity to help build a stronger football structure in the United States and create a lasting impact beyond results on the pitch.
The United States topped their World Cup group with victories over Paraguay and Australia, before defeating Bosnia-Herzegovina 2-0 in the Round of 32. Their campaign ended with a 4-1 defeat to Belgium in the Round of 16.
U.S. Soccer president Cindy Parlow Cone praised Pochettino for transforming the team’s culture, saying he has built an environment based on trust, unity, and belief.
She added that the federation is committed to continuing its investment in the Argentine coach and his staff as they prepare the national team for future competitions.
