Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Ijeoma Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has opened up about her future plans, revealing that her current priority is building wealth and becoming a mother through surrogacy.
Speaking on her podcast, the reality TV star disclosed that her major goal for the remainder of this year and the beginning of next year is to focus on financial growth while preparing to welcome her first child.
Phyna explained that she does not intend to carry the pregnancy herself, stating that she plans to use a surrogate.
According to her, she had previously considered remaining a pet parent to cats and dogs but has since had a change of heart.
“My goal for the rest of the year and early next year is to focus on making money and having my first child. When I say having my first child, I’m not getting pregnant myself. No way. I’m having my child through surrogacy. You know, I once said I wanted to be a cat and dog mum, but I’ve changed my mind,” she said.
The reality star has often used her podcast to discuss personal experiences and societal issues.
In an earlier episode, Phyna admitted that she occasionally wished she were a man because of the challenges and societal expectations women face. She argued that life appears less complicated for men, particularly regarding success, ambition, and public scrutiny.
Reacting to the wedding announcement of her fellow reality TV star, Emmanuel Umoh, Phyna also shared her thoughts on marriage among former BBNaija housemates. She suggested that male ex-housemates often find it easier to settle down because they are less likely to face harsh criticism and negative media attention.
Last year, Phyna reflected on her personal growth journey, revealing that she stopped searching for love in places that had hurt her and began focusing on herself. According to her, she discovered true fulfillment not in material wealth but in self-worth, grace, and inner peace.
The reality star has also been linked to several relationship rumours over the years. In 2024, she sparked speculation after sharing a photo with an unidentified man. Many social media users suggested the mystery man bore a resemblance to singer Kaid due to his distinctive dreadlocks.
Phyna has also spoken publicly about toxic relationships, recalling how she moved on from a difficult past relationship following the death of Kenyan athlete Rebecca Cheptegei.
In another interview, she claimed that some Edo men are known for dating women for many years without marriage, citing her own experience of being in a 12-year relationship with an Edo man. She advised women against spending excessive years in relationships without clear commitment.
During an Instagram Live session, Phyna also revealed that she would be open to marrying someone like Nigerian singer Shallipopi, adding that she prefers dating Edo or Yoruba men and would not consider dating an Igbo man.
Phyna previously dated fellow BBNaija housemate Groovy while they were both in the reality show house. However, the relationship ended a few months after the show concluded.
