The newly appointed spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu, has promised Nigerians a more responsive, transparent, and people-focused policing system.
In a statement issued on Saturday following his appointment as Force Public Relations Officer, Iniedu reaffirmed the commitment of the police to strengthening public trust and improving engagement with citizens.
He emphasized that crime and impunity remain major challenges confronting the nation and stressed the need for collective efforts to address them.
According to him, the fight against criminality cannot be won by law enforcement alone, urging Nigerians, media practitioners, and other stakeholders to work closely with the police in promoting security and accountability.
“On assuming office as Force Public Relations Officer, I wish to reaffirm the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to a new era of responsive, transparent, and citizen-centred policing. Crime and impunity remain our common enemy, and defeating them requires the active partnership of all Nigerians,” he stated.
Iniedu also expressed appreciation for the goodwill messages he has received since his appointment and pledged to deliver results through openness, accountability, and effective communication.
The new Force PRO further extended an invitation to members of the public and the media to engage constructively with his office to foster stronger collaboration between the police and citizens.
His appointment was officially confirmed by the Nigeria Police Force on Friday following approval by the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu.
The outgoing Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Placid, described Iniedu as an experienced police officer with a strong background in public communication, intelligence management, operational policing, institutional accountability, and administration.
