Nigerian skit maker Governor Amuneke says political party offered him dollars to influence content

Nigerian content creator Kevin Chinedu, popularly known as Kevinblak or Governor Amuneke, has revealed that members of a political party once offered him money in dollars to change the tone of his satirical skits about politics and governance.

He made the disclosure during an interview on ARISE Television, where he spoke about the pressures faced by comedians and digital creators who use humour to hold public officials accountable.

According to him, the offer came at a difficult time in his life when he was dealing with financial challenges shortly after his wife underwent a Caesarean section. He said he was invited to Abuja and promised a better life in exchange for altering his content.

Despite the tempting offer, the comedian said he rejected it, insisting on staying true to his values and independence.

“I was approached with cash by members of a political party to change my content. They promised to transform my life and offered dollars, saying others were already involved,” he said, adding that he chose not to compromise his principles.

He declined to name the political party involved, referring to it only as “Amuneke’s party,” a fictional group featured in his skits, and warned against speculating about its identity.

Chinedu also noted that his close associates share similar values, revealing that some of them had received similar offers but also turned them down, reinforcing their collective commitment to integrity.
