Oshiomhole Warns Akpabio, Says 11th Senate Will Be Different

Senator Adams Oshiomhole has suggested that growing dissatisfaction exists among lawmakers in the 10th National Assembly over the leadership style of Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Speaking during an interview on the Mic On Podcast hosted by Seun Okinbaloye, the Edo North lawmaker dismissed suggestions that he poses a threat to Akpabio but accused the Senate President of being overly suspicious of him.

Oshiomhole, a former governor of Edo State, claimed that Akpabio views him with undue concern and would exclude him from Senate activities if given the opportunity.

According to the senator, the issue extends beyond their personal relationship, as several lawmakers are reportedly unhappy with the current leadership approach in the upper chamber.

He further warned that the composition and attitude of the Senate could change significantly after the 2027 general elections, when a new National Assembly is expected to be inaugurated.

Oshiomhole stated that many senators have privately expressed concerns about the Senate President’s style of administration, adding that the next Senate may not be as accommodating as the current one.

“The 11th Senate will not be the same as the 10th Senate,” Oshiomhole said, suggesting that future lawmakers could take a different approach to leadership and accountability within the chamber.

His remarks are likely to fuel ongoing discussions about leadership, internal democracy, and power dynamics within the National Assembly as political stakeholders begin to look ahead to the 2027 elections.
