Residents and business owners were thrown into panic on Friday after a fire broke out at a building on Biola Street in the Alapere area of Ketu, Lagos State.
The blaze sent thick smoke billowing into the sky, drawing large crowds as emergency responders rushed to the scene to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.
Personnel of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service responded swiftly after receiving a distress call and immediately began efforts to bring the inferno under control.
Eyewitnesses said firefighters battled the flames for several minutes, working tirelessly to contain the fire and protect adjoining structures from being affected.
As of the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire had not been established, while the extent of damage to the affected building was yet to be determined.
