Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, has defected from the All Progressives Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party and secured the PDP governorship ticket in Gombe State for the 2027 election.
Pantami emerged as the party’s sole candidate during the PDP primary held on Tuesday in Gombe, where members affirmed him through a voice vote.
Chairman of the PDP Electoral Panel, Gregory Yenlong, officially declared him the winner and confirmed him as the party’s governorship candidate.
Speaking after the exercise, Pantami said his ambition is driven by a desire to serve the people of Gombe State, promising fairness and justice if elected governor.
His emergence followed his recent withdrawal from the APC governorship race over alleged breaches of the Electoral Act 2026 and concerns about the credibility of the party’s primary process.
