Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez has described himself as a “mysterious” person while explaining why he turned down an offer to join Mavin Records despite allegedly being offered $1 million.
Naija News reports that the rapper, whose real name is Emeka Akumefule, disclosed this in a post shared on his 𝕏 handle.
According to Blaqbonez, he rejected the deal because he is not comfortable with being overly active on social media or constantly interacting with fans online, something he believes is expected from artistes signed to major record labels.
“I need to get this off my chest before Chanel drops. The reason I didn’t sign to Mavin when they were begging me with a million dollars is because I don’t really like posting. I prefer one tweet per year than engaging my fans. I’m too big for that, I’m mysterious,” he wrote.
Meanwhile, the rapper has also spoken about his views on Nigeria’s political system, revealing that he has never participated in any election in the country.
Speaking during a recent appearance on the Off The Record podcast, Blaqbonez said years of hoping for positive change without seeing results made him lose faith in the nation’s direction.
The music star explained that many expectations he once had for Nigeria never materialised, causing him to mentally disconnect from the system.
Blaqbonez further argued that the country’s leadership issues are closely tied to the mindset and behaviour of its citizens.
According to him, he sees little difference between political parties, insisting that the same problems persist regardless of who assumes power.
