
A woman has been pronounced d3ad, with four other persons injured, following an accident involving two Toyota Sienna vehicles that occured on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos in the early hours of Tuesday, May 5.
In a statement released, the head of public affairs of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Olawale Afolabi, who confirmed the incident, said both vehicles were commercial and fully loaded at the time of the accident.
Afolabi said the injured victims were rescued and taken to a nearby trauma centre for medical attention.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that reckless driving by one of the Toyota Sienna vehicles triggered the crash, leading to a head-on collision”he said
He noted that LASEMA’s Tiger Squad from the C3 Command was activated at about 7:26am and arrived at the scene around 8:00am to coordinate rescue and recovery operations.
Afolabi added that officials of the agency worked with police officers and personnel of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) to manage traffic and clear the wreckage.
