Ugandan TikToker Lala has criticized law enforcement authorities over the circulation of private videos allegedly linked to her, arguing that investigators should focus on tracking down those who leak such content rather than targeting the individuals featured in it.
Reacting to the controversy, Lala questioned what she described as a lack of action against those responsible for sharing private material online. She urged authorities to prioritize identifying and prosecuting individuals who unlawfully distribute intimate content without consent.
The social media personality also defended the existence of private recordings between consenting adults, noting that many actions taken within romantic relationships are intended to remain private and should not be exposed to the public.
Her comments come amid a growing wave of online privacy controversies involving Ugandan celebrities and social media figures. Recently, socialite Kirabo Kisitu faced public scrutiny after private photos and videos allegedly linked to her surfaced online, while singer Ava Peace publicly denied claims that she appeared in viral videos circulating on WhatsApp groups.
Joining the debate, Ugandan socialite Doreen Kabareebe condemned the increasing trend of creating and sharing intimate content. She urged young women to exercise caution in relationships and avoid producing such recordings, arguing that respectful partners should not demand intimate images.
The controversy has reignited discussions around privacy rights, cyber harassment, and the responsibilities of social media users in an era where personal content can be rapidly shared online.
Digital rights advocates have repeatedly warned that the non-consensual distribution of private content can cause significant emotional, psychological, and reputational harm, while calling for stronger enforcement against those who leak and spread such material.
Police had not publicly responded to Lala’s remarks at the time of reporting.
