Emmanuel Ikubese has spoken candidly about the collapse of his marriage to celebrity makeup artist Anita Adetoye, revealing the emotional and personal struggles that followed.
The couple tied the knot in March 2020 in a high-profile ceremony that captured national attention. However, by February 2021, signs of trouble emerged after Ikubese deleted their wedding photos from social media and both parties unfollowed each other.
Speaking on the Archives of Becoming Podcast, the actor described the end of the union as a painful turning point in his life. He admitted that the failed marriage hit him deeply, especially because he had always dreamed of building a stable family.
Ikubese said the situation left him questioning himself and feeling like he had fallen short of his expectations. The public nature of their wedding, he added, made the experience even more difficult, as it amplified his sense of disappointment.
Reflecting on the experience, he explained that it forced him into a period of self-examination, describing it as a moment that reshaped his identity and life direction. While he chose not to speak for his former partner, he emphasized that the breakup brought intense emotional pain.
According to him, the experience ultimately pushed him to reconnect with God and seek clarity about his purpose. He described the failed marriage as a “reset,” adding that it helped him realise he had not fully understood himself despite his fame and public success.
Ikubese concluded that the breakup marked a major life shift, changing how he sees himself and the world, while also setting him on a deeper personal and spiritual journey.
