Reality TV personality Tega Dominic has advised Nigerians to carefully consider their mental strength before auditioning for the popular reality show, Big Brother Naija (BBNaija).
Speaking in an interview with Draft Africa, Tega revealed that her experience on the 2021 “Shine Ya Eye” edition negatively impacted her mental health, adding that she would not encourage anyone close to her to participate in the show.
According to her, the exposure and pressure that come with the competition worsened her anxiety, making everyday activities—especially going out alone—more difficult to manage.
She explained that even simple social interactions became overwhelming, noting that while she can give hugs, receiving them remains uncomfortable. To cope, she sometimes wears a face mask to limit interactions and manage her anxiety.
Tega emphasized that the emotional strain and sudden fame associated with BBNaija can be mentally exhausting, particularly for individuals who are not psychologically prepared for such an intense environment.
