Nigerian activist and lawyer Deji Adeyanju has sparked debate after sharing his perspective on electricity demands in the country.
Speaking during an appearance on The Honest Bunch Podcast, Adeyanju argued that most Nigerians are not pushing for uninterrupted, 24-hour electricity due to the associated costs. According to him, many citizens simply want reliable power during crucial periods—particularly at night and in the early morning.
He explained that consistent electricity during those hours would allow people to rest comfortably after work and prepare for the day ahead, while power supply during daytime hours could be prioritised for industries, factories, and businesses.
His remarks have since generated mixed reactions online, with many weighing in on the affordability and accessibility of electricity in Nigeria.
