Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the suspension of the state’s Commissioner for Livestock Development, Prof. Omorodion Ignatius Ikponmwosa, and the State Project Coordinator of the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (LPRES), Mrs. Ikpikhumi Betsy Aghaku.
The suspension, according to the state government, is connected to an alleged official infraction.
The decision was announced in a statement issued on Monday by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Umar Musa Ikhilor.
The statement directed both officials to immediately hand over all official documents, records, and government property relating to the LPRES Project to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Livestock Development.
The directive takes effect immediately.
The government also instructed the suspended officials to report to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government for a comprehensive debriefing on the LPRES Project.
However, the statement did not specify the nature of the alleged misconduct that led to their suspension.
The Edo State Government also did not indicate how long the suspension would last or whether additional disciplinary measures or investigations would be carried out.
