Tinubu Meets Constitutional Requirements, School Records Debate Unnecessary – Saka

Public policy analyst Deyemi Saka has dismissed concerns over President Bola Tinubu’s omission of his primary and secondary school qualifications in the educational section of his nomination papers for the 2027 presidential election.

The issue emerged after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) published Tinubu’s EC9 nomination form, which listed only his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Chicago State University, obtained in 1979, while leaving the sections for primary and secondary education blank.

Speaking during an interview on Arise News, Saka argued that the controversy was unnecessary, insisting that Tinubu had satisfied all constitutional requirements needed to contest the election.

According to him, the President’s university certificate has already been scrutinised and confirmed to be authentic, adding that attention should instead be focused on more pressing national issues.

INEC released the nomination forms of presidential and vice-presidential candidates for the January 16, 2027 presidential election on Saturday, in line with its revised election timetable.

As part of his submission, Tinubu attached copies of his Chicago State University degree certificate and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate.

The President also stated in his nomination form that he was born on March 29, 1952, in Lagos, listed his occupation as a politician, and outlined his career history, including his time at Mobil Nigeria Limited, his tenure as Governor of Lagos State, and his current office as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
