Legendary singer Lionel Richie has reportedly checked into a hospital after his St. Louis performance as a precautionary measure
The Grammy winner, 77, checked himself into the ICU out of caution shortly after his performance in St. Louis on Saturday, Aug. 29. TMZ was the first to report the news of his hospitalization.
Richie is currently in the midst of his Sing a Song All Night Long tour with Earth, Wind & Fire, and performed on Saturday at The Muny. He is next scheduled to perform on Sept. 26 in San Francisco.
The American Idol judge previously cut a concert short in St. Paul, Minn., on June 24 after falling ill on stage.
During the show, which was the first of his tour, Richie told the crowd he was feeling dizzy and that he had never previously performed “Dancing on the Ceiling” while seated, the Minnesota Star Tribune reported.
“When you’re feeling dizzy, sit your ass down,” he joked, before sitting down at a piano to perform “Three Times a Lady” and then taking an impromptu intermission, the Star Tribune added.
