A video of a Nigerian landlord is making waves on social media after claiming his tenant punched him in the face after serving him a notice of a rent increase.
The viral video shows the landlord, whose left eye is completely bandaged. He explained that the tenant has lived in his self-contained apartment for six years.
According to him, the tenancy originally started at N200,000, but the landlord admitted to steadily raising the rent every single year.
The landlord further clarified that his decision to increase the annual rent to N350,000 infuriated the tenant, leading to a physical confrontation where he was struck directly in the eye.
While the clip has sparked fierce debates online about skyrocketing housing costs, many viewers are speculating that the entire video is actually a staged comedy skit designed to go viral.
