UPDATE: Residents of Ibeju Lekki and its environs suspended her proposed peace match over failed power supply by the EKEDC.

The Residents of Ibeju Lekki, have officially announced the suspension of her planned peace match against the EKEDC, over shortage of electricity in the community for over four months.

Affected communities include. Gbetu Community, Ibeju lekki, Tedo Housing Estate, Sangotedo (covers all zones under THERA). Ashela Royal Estate, Alashela, gombo. And more According to the leaders and community head, they came to consensus after a brief meeting.
The official message read below.
DEAR RESIDENT.
Following the widespread support for the proposed peaceful march, a high-level meeting was convened with the Commissioner for Power, the Regional Director of DSS, the Commissioner for Works, the MD of EKEDC, and other stakeholders to review the situation.
The Security Advice
Security reports indicated that the proposed march was likely to be compromised by elements intent on turning it ugly. In the interest of the safety of our residents and everyone involved, the advice was clear: *the march should be suspended.
Acting on that advice, the planned protest has been called off for now.
We know this will disappoint many of you who signed up to participate. Please understand that this decision was not taken lightly—and was made solely to protect you.
The Good News
The engagement did not end there. LERSA subsequently met with EKEDC representatives, and the company disclosed the true cause of the prolonged outage:
A breakage in an underground cable around Abraham Adesanya Junction.
Replacing the cable requires cross-boring the road, which is a complex and lengthy process.
A temporary approval has been secured from the State Government and LCCI to install an overhead cable as an interim measure while underground works continue.
Installation begins tomorrow and is expected to last no longer than two days.
Electricity could be restored to all affected customers as early as Friday, if all goes well.
Our Position
We want to be clear: this outcome did not happen by accident. It came because residents were prepared to act.
Your willingness to march, your persistence, and the collective pressure of this estate and our neighbours forced this engagement and produced this result.
To those who signed up to march: thank you. Your readiness mattered. To those who declined to participate: we respect your position, and we hope this outcome serves you as much as everyone else.
We remain vigilant. If the promised restoration does not materialise by Friday, the EXCO and LERSA will escalate immediately—and we will come back to you.
You stood ready. That was enough.
 EXECUTIVE CTTEE.
