Tonto Dikeh Reveals She Almost Became a Pastor at 17

SNOW TV NEWS DESK

Nollywood actress and evangelist Tonto Dikeh has revealed that she was close to becoming a pastor at the age of 17, insisting that her relationship with God began long before she publicly embraced her renewed spiritual journey.

Dikeh made the revelation during an interview with media personality Kikelomo Abati, where she addressed misconceptions surrounding when she gave her life to Christ.

According to the actress, her Christian faith dates back to her childhood, and she had developed a strong relationship with God long before her recent public expressions of spirituality.

She explained that her spiritual experiences were largely personal and that she did not feel compelled to demonstrate them publicly to convince others of the sincerity of her faith.

“There’s a misconception about when I gave my life to Christ. I’ve always been with Christ, to the point where I was going to be ordained a pastor at 17 years old,” she said.

Dikeh further explained that the messages she believed she received from God came to her privately, emphasizing that her relationship with God was not something she needed to prove to the public.

Her revelation follows an earlier disclosure in January 2026, when she said she had nearly become a pastor at the age of 19 but eventually abandoned that path.

At the time, the actress explained that she had been attending church since leaving secondary school and had experienced a strong spiritual connection from an early age.

However, she acknowledged that certain life experiences and personal struggles contributed to her drifting away from her faith.

Over the years, Dikeh has become increasingly vocal about her Christian beliefs, sharing her spiritual experiences and encouraging others to embrace faith.

Her latest comments have offered further insight into her religious background, suggesting that her current spiritual identity is rooted in experiences that began long before they became a subject of public discussion.

SNOW TV NEWS EDITORIAL ANALYSIS
Tonto Dikeh’s account of nearly becoming a pastor at a young age highlights the deeply personal nature of faith and the different paths through which people develop their spiritual identities.

Public figures who speak openly about religion often face intense scrutiny, with their beliefs, past experiences, and personal decisions frequently becoming subjects of public debate. However, a person’s spiritual journey should not automatically be judged by the timing or manner in which they choose to share it.

At the same time, public expressions of spirituality naturally invite questions, particularly when celebrities use their platforms to discuss religious beliefs and offer guidance to their followers. Such conversations are best approached with fairness, respect, and an appreciation of individual differences.

Ultimately, whether Dikeh pursued ordination at 17 or reconsidered that path later in life, her experience reflects how personal convictions and life circumstances can evolve over time.

Our position is that religious belief deserves respect, but genuine faith should also be accompanied by humility, sincerity, and responsible conduct. Rather than rushing to judge public figures over their spiritual journeys, society should encourage thoughtful conversations about faith, personal growth, and the values people demonstrate in their everyday lives.
