A 42-year-old man from Michigan, United States, has been arrested and charged with allegedly issuing death threats against FBI Director Kash Patel and an unidentified associate.
Federal prosecutors identified the suspect as Anthony Daniel Palazzolo of Chesterfield Township. He is facing a felony charge of interstate communications involving threats following alleged threatening messages posted on Facebook earlier in October.
According to the US Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan, Palazzolo allegedly sent messages to Patel’s associate on October 8, threatening both the individual and the FBI director.
Investigators reportedly traced his Facebook and TikTok accounts to his residential address, where FBI agents visited him on October 9.
Court documents indicate that Palazzolo admitted to sending the messages during questioning but apologized, claiming he had no intention of harming anyone. He reportedly told investigators that his actions were connected to his belief that the government was violating his property rights.
However, the criminal complaint further alleged that on October 12, he sent emails containing threats of sexual violence to an FBI task force officer, a Texas federal court, the Secret Service, and the Supreme Court.
The following day, he allegedly left two threatening voicemails for the officer, warning that he could use deadly force against federal officials.
Palazzolo appeared before Magistrate Judge David R. Grand in federal court on Friday and was ordered temporarily detained. His detention hearing was scheduled for Monday. He has not entered a plea.
The case comes months after another Massachusetts man, Alden Welch Ruml, was arrested over an alleged threatening email directed at Patel’s fiancée, Alexis Wilkins. Ruml has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled for trial in February.

Threats Against Public Officials Must Be Taken Seriously
The allegations against Palazzolo highlight the growing concerns surrounding threats directed at public officials and law enforcement personnel
.
Regardless of political disagreements or personal grievances, threatening violence is not an acceptable way to express dissatisfaction with government policies.
At the same time, the legal process must be allowed to determine the facts, with the accused presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Protecting public officials while upholding citizens’ constitutional rights remains essential to maintaining public safety and the rule of law.
