Serah Ibrahim, a prominent grassroots mobilizer associated with the Obidient Movement and supporters of former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, has publicly backed Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde’s presidential ambition ahead of the 2027 general election.
Ibrahim’s endorsement is attracting political attention, particularly because of her long-standing association with Obi and her active role in mobilizing support for him during the 2023 presidential election.
She made her position known during the unveiling of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) presidential manifesto in Abuja, where she introduced Makinde and described him as the “most outstanding Nigerian on the ballot.”
In a post shared on her X account on Wednesday, Ibrahim also revealed that she was part of the team involved in developing Makinde’s policy manifesto, known as the Reset Agenda.
She encouraged Nigerians to examine the document and contribute their opinions, particularly on its four major areas of focus: the economy, security, education, and governance.
Describing her involvement as both a privilege and a responsibility, she wrote:
“An honor to have been part of the process of developing the Policy Manifesto of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde. It has been both a privilege and a responsibility. Today, it was an honor to introduce it to Nigerians.
Her appearance at Makinde’s political event has raised questions about the direction of her political allegiance as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
The development is particularly interesting given her history with Peter Obi, whom she has supported since the 2023 election.
Obi had also recently dismissed suggestions of a disagreement between them, describing Ibrahim as his daughter and insisting that he considers those around him as family.
Speaking about their relationship, the former Anambra governor said, “No, Serah is my daughter. How will a father fight with his daughter? Everybody you see around me is my child, and I love and care for all of them.”
However, despite her public support for Makinde and involvement in developing his presidential policy document, Ibrahim has not formally announced her departure from the Obidient Movement.
Her latest move could signal shifting political interests ahead of 2027, although it remains unclear whether her endorsement represents a personal political decision or a broader realignment among some supporters previously associated with Obi.
