2027 Presidency: Tinubu, APC Ready for Showdown With Atiku, Ajayi Tells ADC

SNOW TV NEWS DESK
A presidential aide to President Bola Tinubu, Temitope Ajayi, has declared that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is prepared for a major electoral battle against former Vice President Atiku Abubakar ahead of the January 16, 2027 presidential election.

Ajayi, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, made the declaration while reacting to the recent political and legal crisis rocking the African Democratic Congress (ADC), following a ruling by Justice Peter Lifu of the Abuja Federal High Court.

The court decision reportedly affected the leadership structure of the David Mark-led ADC and dismissed issues surrounding Atiku’s presidential candidacy, triggering reactions from members and supporters of the opposition party.

However, Ajayi dismissed allegations that President Tinubu or the APC had any involvement in the court’s decision, insisting that the crisis was largely the result of internal disagreements and political miscalculations by the opposition figures involved.

In a post on X, the presidential aide argued that the leadership challenges confronting the ADC should not be blamed on the ruling party, urging its members to take responsibility for the decisions that led to the current situation.

He specifically identified the leadership crisis surrounding the Senator David Mark-led National Working Committee as a major source of the party’s difficulties.

Ajayi also called on the National Judicial Council (NJC) to take decisive steps in addressing concerns surrounding judicial conduct and discipline, stressing the importance of maintaining public confidence in the judiciary.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding the ADC’s leadership and Atiku’s political position, Ajayi maintained that Tinubu and the APC were prepared for a direct electoral contest with the former vice president.

According to him, the ruling party is already positioning itself for what he described as a major political showdown in 2027, while Atiku and his allies must first resolve their internal and legal difficulties.

“President Tinubu is getting ready for a major election showdown with Atiku, which is scheduled for January 16, 2027, as a rematch. The APC is prepared for that contest,” he stated.

The comments reflect the growing political tension ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the ruling party expressing confidence in its chances while the opposition faces fresh questions about its leadership structure and electoral readiness.

Ultimately, the unfolding ADC crisis could become a significant test of the opposition’s ability to resolve internal disputes and present a united front against Tinubu’s re-election ambition.
