Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala has celebrated the man who played an important role in shaping her football career by gifting her former grassroots coach, Emmanuel Osahon Orobosa, a brand-new Toyota Highlander.
Orobosa, who is the founder and head coach of FC Robo International, helped nurture Oshoala’s talent during her teenage years and played a significant role in her journey towards becoming a professional footballer.
FC Robo International confirmed the generous gesture, describing it as a touching demonstration of gratitude from the Nigerian football star to someone who believed in her potential long before she became an internationally recognized player.
Orobosa was instrumental in guiding Oshoala during the early stages of her career in 2009, particularly at a time when she was still trying to secure her family’s support for her ambition to play professional football.
In a statement celebrating the gift, FC Robo praised the six-time African Women’s Player of the Year for remembering the people who contributed to her success.
The club described the presentation of the Toyota Highlander as a reminder that Oshoala has not forgotten those who supported her when she was still finding her feet in the game.
The latest gesture is also not the first time the Super Falcons star has given back to the club that helped launch her career. Shortly after making her move to European football, Oshoala previously donated an operational bus to FC Robo to support the team’s activities.
Now regarded as one of Africa’s most accomplished female footballers, Oshoala has enjoyed success at both club and international levels, earning multiple individual honors and representing Nigeria on the biggest stages of women’s football.
Her latest gift goes beyond its financial value, highlighting the importance of recognizing the coaches, mentors, and grassroots institutions that help young athletes turn their dreams into reality.
For Orobosa, the presentation is a meaningful acknowledgement of the role he played in Oshoala’s journey, while for aspiring footballers, it serves as a reminder that success can also mean remembering and appreciating the people who helped make it possible.
