How MTN Subscribers Can Check Eligibility and Access FG’s ₦50,000 Monthly Relief Grant

SNOW TV NEWS DESK
MTN subscribers selected for the Federal Government’s ₦50,000 monthly relief programme can now check their eligibility and confirm acceptance of the financial support through the MoMo Payment Service Bank (MoMo PSB) USSD platform.

The intervention, known as the National Emergency Relief and Stabilization Intervention (NERSI), is designed to provide financial assistance to vulnerable Nigerian households struggling with the rising cost of living.

However, amid growing interest in the program, fraudulent messages have begun circulating on social media, misleading MTN subscribers with claims that they can secure the grant by sending “YES” to an unofficial code.

MTN Nigeria Support has dismissed the circulating instructions, warning subscribers against falling victim to the messages.

The telecommunications company advised users not to click suspicious links, disclose their personal information, one-time passwords (OTPs), PINs, or passwords, or make payments in response to unverified messages.

According to the official NERSI portal, beneficiaries are selected using verified National Identity Management Commission records and the National Social Register. Payments are processed through approved providers, including MoMo PSB, ALAT by Wema, NairaGram, OPay, and Moniepoint.

For eligible MTN subscribers, MoMo PSB is the designated payment provider.

How MTN users can check their eligibility and receive the grant

Check your eligibility: Dial 6710# using the MTN number linked to your registration details and follow the instructions to check your status.

Accept the offer: If selected, follow the instructions in the official notification or respond through the USSD platform to give consent.

Respond to MoMo notifications: Beneficiaries may receive an official SMS or notification requesting permission before the money is transferred. Follow the instructions to confirm acceptance.

Open a MoMo account: Subscribers who do not already have a MoMo wallet can dial *671# or download the official MoMo NG application to register.

Access your money: Once the ₦50,000 is credited, beneficiaries can withdraw through MoMo agents, use the mobile application or USSD service, or transfer the funds to their bank accounts.

Announcing the commencement of the intervention on October 30, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr Bernard Doro, explained that selected beneficiaries would receive ₦50,000 monthly to help cover essential expenses.

The minister stressed that beneficiaries do not need to submit applications, pay registration fees, or engage agents to secure the assistance.

He also confirmed that payment providers would send SMS notifications requesting beneficiaries’ consent before transferring the funds into their mobile wallets.

Importantly, a status showing “NOT SELECTED” does not necessarily mean permanent exclusion, as the government is distributing the payments in phases. However, there is no guarantee that everyone excluded from the current batch will be selected later.

For complaints and inquiries, Nigerians can contact the NERSI helpline on 0700-022-2222 or MoMo PSB customer support on 671.

Subscribers are advised to use only official channels and remember that the government has stated that the ₦50,000 relief program is completely free.
