Tensions reportedly flared between R&B stars Chris Brown and Usher backstage at their Atlanta concert on Thursday night, with a disagreement between the two singers contributing to a delay of almost three hours.
According to sources cited by TMZ, the disagreement centered on when the show should begin, as heavy traffic around the venue left many fans struggling to arrive on time. While Usher reportedly wanted the performance to go ahead as scheduled, Brown preferred to wait until more concertgoers had made their way into the venue.
What appeared to be a disagreement over timing reportedly escalated into an exchange of words, with sources suggesting that underlying tensions and professional competitiveness may have played a role.
The incident has also raised questions about the relationship between the two music heavyweights, who are currently sharing the stage on their R&B tour. Sources described the atmosphere between them as competitive, suggesting that Thursday’s disagreement may have been fuelled by personal egos rather than simply the concert arrangements.
However, despite the reported confrontation, there are no indications that the disagreement will affect the continuation of the tour. Both singers were scheduled to return to the stage in Atlanta on Friday night.
The delay, meanwhile, did not go down well with fans, many of whom had reportedly waited for hours for the concert to begin. For concertgoers, the backstage tension translated into a frustrating experience, regardless of what may have caused the disagreement.
Interestingly, this is not the first time the pair have reportedly found themselves at odds. In 2023, Usher was said to have intervened during Chris Brown’s birthday celebration after the singer allegedly got into a heated exchange with Teyana Taylor.
Although neither singer has publicly addressed the latest reports, the incident has once again drawn attention to the dynamics between two of R&B’s biggest stars, raising questions about whether their competitive relationship extends beyond the stage.
