Nigerian music mogul Don Jazzy has stepped forward to support Nancy Chidinma, a woman seeking financial assistance for the treatment of recurring ear keloids, with a generous donation of ₦5 million.
The Mavin Records founder, whose real name is Michael Ajereh, announced the donation on Saturday through his official X account with a brief but impactful message: “5M sent.”
The gesture comes after Chidinma made a public appeal for financial support to undergo surgery and other medical procedures needed to treat the condition, which has continued to affect her.
Reacting to the donation, Chidinma expressed heartfelt gratitude to the music executive, admitting that she never expected her appeal to reach someone like him, despite seeing his previous acts of generosity towards people on social media.
In her response, she wrote that she was yet to receive a bank alert confirming the transfer but hoped the delay was due to a banking issue. She also thanked everyone who helped amplify her appeal by tagging Don Jazzy, sharing her story and encouraging others to contribute.
Chidinma further provided an alternative bank account for individuals who had experienced difficulties making donations.
Earlier reports indicated that she was seeking approximately ₦7 million to complete the treatment process after raising an initial ₦1.2 million.
According to her account, she had been seeking medical attention at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), where doctors recommended surgical removal of the keloids, followed by radiotherapy and additional postoperative treatment to minimize the possibility of recurrence.
The estimated cost of surgery was ₦1.2 million, while two radiotherapy sessions at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) were expected to cost ₦2.5 million each.
Additional expenses, including medication, injections, chemotherapy, and silicone creams, were estimated at about ₦2 million, bringing the total projected treatment bill to ₦8.2 million.
Don Jazzy’s ₦5 million contribution represents a significant step towards easing that financial burden and bringing Chidinma closer to accessing the medical care she needs.
Beyond the financial value, the donation highlights how social media can help connect people facing difficult circumstances with individuals willing to make a meaningful difference. For Chidinma, the support offers renewed hope in what has been a challenging journey towards treatment and recovery.
