2027: Kogi PDP Backs Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as Sole Senatorial Candidate

The Kogi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially endorsed Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as its unopposed candidate for the Kogi Central Senatorial District in the 2027 general election.

The decision was reached during a State Working Committee meeting held on Thursday at the party’s secretariat in Lokoja. The committee ratified an earlier approval by the state chairman, Muhammed Gambo, declaring Akpoti-Uduaghan the unanimous choice of the party.

The PDP also reaffirmed her position as the party’s leader in Kogi State, highlighting her unwavering support and financial contributions to party activities and structure.

Speaking on behalf of the committee, Gambo praised the senator’s performance at the National Assembly, noting that her representation has brought positive recognition to the party.

He emphasized that her influence goes beyond legislative duties, citing her role in driving development across Kogi Central through empowerment programmes and infrastructure projects. These include the construction of schools and markets, housing initiatives, and skills acquisition programmes for constituents.

According to the party, her track record and dedication make her the most suitable candidate to represent the PDP in the upcoming senatorial race. The party also pledged continued support and loyalty as preparations for the 2027 elections begin.

The endorsement comes shortly after Akpoti-Uduaghan announced her intention to seek re-election, stating that her decision followed extensive consultations and encouragement from constituents across the five local government areas in Kogi Central.
