2027: Oborevwori Confident Peter Obi Will Not Repeat 2023 Delta Victory

The Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, has expressed confidence that Peter Obi will not secure victory in the state during the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Tuesday, Oborevwori stated that the circumstances that contributed to Obi’s success in Delta State during the 2023 presidential poll have significantly changed.

The governor attributed Obi’s strong showing in the last election to support from the Christian community and non-indigenous residents, particularly members of the Igbo community living in the state.

According to Oborevwori, his administration has since built stronger ties with the Igbo community, and he believes many of them will support the All Progressives Congress in future elections.

He noted that the Igbo community did not oppose him during the governorship election and has continued to collaborate with his administration in pursuit of the state’s development.

The governor also highlighted the role of religious leaders, saying many faith leaders supported and prayed for his decision to join the APC and would likely continue to back the party ahead of future elections.

Oborevwori maintained that the political dynamics that helped Obi emerge victorious in Delta State in 2023 have been effectively addressed, making a repeat outcome unlikely in 2027.

Speaking on his confidence ahead of the next election cycle, the governor said the Igbo community and his administration now enjoy a cordial relationship and are working together for the state’s progress.

He added that he believes many voters who previously supported individual candidates would focus more on party affiliation in future elections, expressing optimism that the APC would benefit from that shift.

Oborevwori further argued that the support of religious leaders remains important, noting that they had prayed for the success of his political transition and could again be called upon to support the party’s electoral ambitions through prayers and encouragement as the 2027 elections approach.
