Nigeria’s Super Eagles continued their dominance in the Unity Cup, defeating Jamaica 3-0 at Valley Stadium in London to retain the 2026 title.
The victory secured another Unity Cup triumph for Nigeria in a rematch of last year’s final against the Reggae Boyz. While the previous encounter was decided by penalties, the Super Eagles B team left no room for drama this time, delivering a commanding performance to settle the contest within regulation time.
Midfielder Alhassan Yusuf starred with a brace, while skipper Terem Moffi added another goal as Nigeria claimed a record-extending fourth Unity Cup title.
The result preserved Nigeria’s flawless record in the competition, making them the only nation to have lifted the trophy since the tournament began.
The Super Eagles got off to a dream start when Yusuf capitalized on a defensive error in the third minute. After Jamaica’s goalkeeper could only parry a header back into play, the midfielder reacted quickest to slot home and hand Nigeria an early lead.
The strike was particularly significant for Yusuf, marking his first goal for the national team after ten appearances.
Despite Jamaica’s efforts to fight back, Nigeria remained compact defensively and dangerous in attack.
The Eagles doubled their advantage in the 58th minute when captain Moffi powered home a header from a well-delivered cross by Femi Azeez.
The goal put Nigeria firmly in control as Jamaica struggled to cope with the movement, pace, and intensity of their opponents.
Yusuf completed his outstanding display in stoppage time, producing a fine solo effort to score his second goal of the night and seal a convincing victory.
His late strike highlighted the quality of Nigeria’s side against a Jamaican team preparing for the World Cup.
The brace not only helped Nigeria secure another trophy but also strengthened Yusuf’s case for a bigger role within the national team setup.
Saturday’s victory further extended Nigeria’s unbeaten run against Jamaica to six matches. The Super Eagles have now recorded three regulation-time wins over the Reggae Boyz, underlining their superiority in the fixture.
The triumph will provide a significant confidence boost as Nigeria continues its summer international schedule.
Next up for the Super Eagles are friendly matches against the national teams of Poland and Portugal.
Nigeria is set to face Poland in Warsaw on Wednesday before taking on Portugal in Leiria on June 10, giving the coaching staff another opportunity to evaluate players ahead of upcoming international competitions.
