The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a suspected ammunition and logistics supplier linked to bandit and kidnapping groups, identified as Yau Sule.
Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja on Friday, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Mohammed Sanusi, disclosed that the suspect had been on the command’s wanted list since 2023.
According to the police chief, Yau Sule, a native of Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, was apprehended on June 2, 2026, during an intelligence-driven operation while travelling along the Abuja-Kaduna Highway.
Security operatives reportedly recovered 81 rounds of 7.62mm AK-47 ammunition and 100 rounds of 7.62mm belted ammunition intended for a General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG).
Further investigations led to the arrest of Maria Sule, the suspect’s sister and wife of a wanted bandit leader, Buhari Shuaibu, who is alleged to be involved in attacks across the FCT, Kaduna, and Niger states. Police said she is suspected of helping to supply ammunition that was later distributed to criminal groups.
Preliminary findings indicate that the suspects are part of a wider logistics network supporting bandits and terrorists operating in Kaduna, Niger State, and border communities within the FCT.
In a separate operation, FCT police operatives arrested three suspected kidnappers at Runji Village in Zuba, Gwagwalada Area Council. The arrests followed digital forensic investigations and actionable intelligence after videos surfaced online showing armed men displaying rifles, ammunition, and communication equipment while dressed in military camouflage.
The suspects were identified as Umar Babangida (25), Adamu Yeti (22), and Yahaya Idris (24), all residents of Rijana in Kaduna State.
CP Sanusi said the command had launched a detailed investigation into the viral videos and ordered the arrest of all individuals connected to the footage as part of efforts to curb criminal activities in the territory.
