Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, has renewed his criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing him as the worst president not only in Nigeria’s history but globally.
In a statement that has gained significant attention on social media, Melaye argued that limiting Tinubu’s record to being Nigeria’s worst president would not fully capture what he described as the administration’s shortcomings.
Speaking during a recent interview, the outspoken politician and prominent member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) maintained that no presidential aspirant within his party could perform worse than the current administration.
“There can never be a worse president than Tinubu,” Melaye said, while also challenging the president to conduct a free, fair, and transparent election.
He further claimed that he would decisively defeat Tinubu in a competitive electoral contest, insisting that the president has become the most unpopular political figure in the country.
Melaye also used the occasion of Democracy Day on June 12, 2026, to intensify his criticism of the administration, alleging that Tinubu lacks the capacity to effectively govern Nigeria beyond his experience in Lagos State.
According to him, the government has fallen short in key areas such as security and citizens’ welfare, adding that any leader who fails in those responsibilities should be considered unsuccessful.
The remarks have sparked mixed reactions across various platforms, with some Nigerians agreeing with his assessment of the country’s challenges, while others dismissed the comments as political posturing ahead of future elections.
The latest comments reflect continued opposition criticism of the Tinubu administration and underscore the deep political divisions shaping Nigeria’s current landscape.
