‘No One Feels Safe Anymore’ – 100-Year-Old Woman Urges Tinubu, Governors to End Insecurity

A 100-year-old voter in Ekiti State, Madam Oyedade, has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and state governors to take decisive action against the growing insecurity across Nigeria.

Speaking with reporters while waiting for accreditation at Polling Unit 001 in Aye Ward, Aye Ekiti, located in Ido/Osi Local Government Area, the centenarian lamented that insecurity has reached a point where citizens no longer feel protected.

Madam Oyedade said she came out to participate in the governorship election because she wanted the most competent candidate to emerge victorious.

“I came out to vote because I want the best candidate to win,” she said.

She added, “I want to appeal to President Bola Tinubu and all the governors to urgently find a lasting solution to insecurity. Nobody feels safe in Nigeria anymore. It is a very sad situation.”

Meanwhile, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Wole Oluyede, criticized the performance of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) at his polling unit, describing the voting process as frustrating.

Speaking after casting his vote at Unit 6, Ward 3, Osagburu Family Hall in Ikere-Ekiti, Oluyede complained that the BVAS machine experienced technical issues, slowing down voter accreditation.

According to him, only six voters had been accredited since voting commenced at 8:30 a.m. due to the malfunctioning device.

Officials of the electoral body were reportedly working to resolve the issue and restore normal operations, but Oluyede maintained that the delay was unacceptable and could affect the credibility of the voting process.
