Kwankwaso Threatens ₦10bn Lawsuit Over Alleged Defamatory Remarks By Primate Ayodele

Former Kano State Governor and NDC vice-presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has threatened legal action against Elijah Ayodele over comments he described as defamatory.

Through his lawyers, Kwankwaso demanded a public retraction and apology, accusing the cleric of making false claims that questioned his loyalty to NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi and alleged that he was financially induced to accept the vice-presidential slot.

The legal team argued that the remarks were malicious, unsubstantiated and damaging to Kwankwaso’s reputation and political integrity. They gave Ayodele 24 hours to issue a public apology and withdraw the statements across all platforms where they were published.

The lawyers also requested a written commitment from the cleric to refrain from making similar statements in the future, warning that failure to comply could result in a ₦10 billion defamation suit and additional legal claims.
