LPPC Suspends Mike Ozekhome’s SAN Status Pending Disciplinary Proceedings

The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) has suspended Chief Mike Ozekhome from using the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) pending the outcome of ongoing disciplinary proceedings.

The decision was reached during the committee’s 173rd General Meeting held on June 23, 2026, according to a statement issued by the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court and LPPC Secretary, Kabir E. A.

The LPPC stated that the suspension was implemented under Paragraph 26(6) of the Guidelines for the Conferment of the Rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria and related matters.

According to the committee, the measure is intended to preserve the integrity, dignity, and prestige of the SAN rank while disciplinary and related proceedings are being reviewed.

As part of the directive, Ozekhome has been instructed not to present or identify himself as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria until the disciplinary process is concluded.

The LPPC also reiterated its commitment to maintaining high standards of ethics, professionalism, and discipline within the legal profession, stressing the need to preserve public confidence in the SAN title.
