Gospel singer Bunmi Akinnaanu, known for ‘Omije Ojumi,’ to be laid to rest on January 21.

The family of the late gospel singer, Bunmi Akinnaanu, popularly known for her hit song Omije Ojumi, has announced arrangements for her burial, scheduled for January 21, 2026.

Akinnaanu passed away on January 12 after a long struggle with a severe leg ailment, which had earlier drawn concern and prayers from fans and members of the gospel music community. In the months leading up to her death, the singer had openly sought prayers and divine healing while battling the illness.

The burial programme was made public by fellow gospel artiste, Alayo Melody, via an Instagram post on Friday, accompanied by a flyer outlining the events.

According to the schedule, activities will commence on Tuesday, January 20, with a service of songs at the LTV 8 Ground in Ikeja, Lagos. This will be followed by a candlelight procession at 7pm, and a tribute and artistes’ night at 8pm the same evening.

The final interment service will hold on Wednesday, January 21, and will be a private ceremony reserved for family members and close associates.

Bunmi Akinnaanu began her music journey at the age of 10 and later left a banking career to fully dedicate herself to gospel music. She gained widespread recognition through Omije Ojumi, a song that became deeply cherished among Nigerian Christians and widely played in churches and homes nationwide.
