Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has declared that the state is fully prepared to campaign for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The governor made the declaration on Thursday while speaking with journalists after inspecting the renovated Edo State Presidential Campaign Council secretariat in Benin City.

According to a statement issued by his chief press secretary, Dr. Patrick Akhere Ebojele, Okpebholo expressed satisfaction with the renovation work, describing the facility as ready for campaign activities.

He expressed confidence that Edo voters would support Tinubu’s bid for a second presidential term, alongside APC candidates contesting seats in the Senate, House of Representatives, and Edo State House of Assembly.

The governor further claimed that the party had already secured 2.5 million votes in the state, insisting that its electoral target was non-negotiable.

He said, “As you can see on the board, Asiwaju 2027 is settled. Our 2.5 million votes are not negotiable. They are already settled, and that is the truth.”

Okpebholo also urged residents of Edo State to participate actively in the electoral process by turning out in large numbers to exercise their voting rights on January 16, 2027, the election date he referenced.

Earlier, the Director General of the Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Mathew Urhoghide, commended the governor for providing the facility for the council’s operations.

Urhoghide explained that the renovation was necessary to provide a suitable environment for campaign activities and efforts to promote APC candidates to voters.

He also appealed to journalists and media organizations to support the council’s communication efforts, describing the media as important partners in presenting the party’s candidates and programs to Nigerians.

The campaign council expressed confidence in the APC’s candidates and called for media cooperation ahead of the elections.

SNOW TV EDITORIAL ANALYSIS
Governor Okpebholo’s declaration reflects the APC’s determination to strengthen its political influence in Edo State ahead of the 2027 elections. His confidence in delivering 2.5 million votes signals an ambitious electoral target and an attempt to demonstrate the party’s readiness.

However, electoral victory cannot be guaranteed through political declarations alone. The APC must convince voters through credible policies, effective governance, improved living conditions, and meaningful engagement with the electorate.

Ultimately, Edo voters will determine the outcome at the ballot box. Rather than treating projected votes as already secured, political leaders should recognize that public trust and citizens’ confidence remain the strongest foundations of electoral success.
