SAD : Nigerian Afrofuji Singer Destiny Boy Dies At 22

Details surrounding the circumstances of his death remain unclear as the news spread rapidly across social media and the entertainment industry.

Afrofuji singer Afeez Adeshina, widely known as Destiny Boy, has died at the age of 22. As of the time of this report, the cause of death has not been officially disclosed.

Following confirmation of his passing, an old social media post by the late singer resurfaced and went viral. In the post, Destiny Boy reflected on ambition and mortality, writing, “Either I make this money or I die young, money must be made,” a statement that has drawn renewed attention after his sudden death.

A video obtained by SaharaReporters and published by Kwara Eaglet showed his body being conveyed in a bus to an undisclosed location. The video claimed he vomited an unknown substance, though no official explanation has been given regarding the events leading to his death.

In November 2024, Destiny Boy and his partner, Iremide, welcomed their first child, a baby boy. At the time, the singer shared the news with gratitude, writing, “Alhamdulillah. Junior is here. My first son.”

The late musician began his career at T2 Boys Studios in Agege, Lagos, where he worked as a backup dancer for Fuji star Alhaji Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, an experience that influenced his musical journey.

He rose to fame in 2019 after releasing a Fuji-style cover of Davido’s hit song If, which went viral and introduced him as one of the emerging voices reshaping Fuji music for younger audiences.

Destiny Boy later released several covers of popular songs by artists such as Tekno, 2Baba, 9ice, and Small Doctor, further solidifying his place in the Afrofuji genre. His original songs included Lamba, One Transaction, Gbese, Billion Dollar, Mio Gbonkankan, and Lowkey.

Since news of his death broke, Nigerians have flooded social media with tributes, expressing shock, mourning his loss, and praying for his family.
