SNOW TV NEWS DESK
A 40-year-old British woman, identified as Claire Chadwick, has died alongside her unborn baby after suffering septic shock in Nigeria, where she had relocated to begin a new life with her husband, Ibrahim.

Chadwick, who was 37 weeks pregnant, reportedly developed sepsis, a life-threatening medical condition that occurs when the body’s response to an infection causes damage to its own organs and tissues. Her unborn baby reportedly died in the womb before she succumbed to septic shock.

The tragic incident has left her family devastated, with relatives now making efforts to bring both mother and child back to the United Kingdom for burial.

Claire and her husband had built a social media following by regularly sharing aspects of their relationship, religious beliefs, and food challenges on TikTok and Instagram. Their videos offered followers glimpses into their life together and their decision to build a future in Nigeria.

Following her death, Claire’s sister, Shannon, spoke about the family’s heartbreak and their desire to give her and the baby a dignified farewell.

She explained that the family’s immediate priority was to arrange the return of their remains to the UK, nearly 3,000 miles away, so they could be buried together and surrounded by loved ones.

“More than anything, we want them both returned so they can be laid to rest with dignity, surrounded by the family who love them,” Shannon said.

Claire is survived by her husband, Ibrahim, her 19-year-old son, who lives in Wales, and other relatives.

Her death is a heartbreaking reminder of how quickly pregnancy complications can turn fatal, even in the final weeks before delivery. Sepsis is a medical emergency that requires urgent recognition and treatment, making awareness of its warning signs particularly important during pregnancy and childbirth.

For her grieving family, the focus now remains on bringing Claire and her unborn child home and ensuring they receive the pea

ceful farewell they deserve.
