My Success Is Not Because of My Partner, Hilda Baci Tells Critics

SNOW TV NEWS DESK
Popular Nigerian chef and restaurateur Hilda Baci has pushed back against suggestions that her success is largely connected to her romantic relationship, insisting that her achievements are the result of her own hard work, dedication and determination.

The celebrity chef expressed concern over the tendency of some people to attribute a woman’s accomplishments to the man in her life, describing such assumptions as a reflection of the mindset society still holds towards women’s achievements.

Speaking in a video shared by Goldmyne TV, Baci admitted that although such comments do not necessarily make her angry, she finds them upsetting because they undermine the personal sacrifices and efforts women make to build successful careers.

According to her, the tendency to associate a woman’s success with her partner rather than recognizing her individual contributions highlights the need for a change in how society views women and their accomplishments.

“It is sometimes upsetting, but I think it just goes to show where we are as people and what the mindset is,” she said.

Baci further explained that her commitment to representing women goes beyond personal success. She wants to use her visibility and achievements to challenge limiting perceptions and encourage more women to pursue their ambitions independently.

She noted that she is deliberate about putting herself forward as an example of what women can achieve through hard work while also creating opportunities for others to succeed.

“That’s why I’m so intentional about putting in so much effort in representing myself, representing women, and just giving more women an opportunity to do better for themselves as well,” she added.

Her comments have reignited conversations about the recognition women receive for their professional achievements, particularly in a society where their success is sometimes linked to the influence, support, or financial status of their male partners.

For Baci, the message is clear: while having a supportive partner can be valuable, it should never erase a woman’s individual efforts, sacrifices, and accomplishments. A woman’s success deserves to be recognized on its own merit.
