The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of several senior and junior police officers to higher ranks across the Nigeria Police Force.

According to a statement issued on Thursday by PSC spokesperson, Torty Kalu, Assistant Inspector-General of Police Funsho Adegboye has been elevated to the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police.

The Commission also approved the promotion of Commissioners of Police Danjuma Aboki and Dansabo Idi to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police.

Kalu explained that the promotions followed a rigorous, merit-based process, which included written examinations and oral interviews conducted by the Commission.

The approvals were made during the PSC’s third plenary meeting, chaired by retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Hashimu Salihu Argungu. During the meeting, the Commission ratified the promotion of one DIG, two AIGs, and over 26,000 inspectors.

In addition, the PSC approved the promotion of 26,119 inspectors to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police II (ASP II), based on their outstanding performance in the recently concluded Departmental Selection Board Examination.

PSC Chairman, Hashimu Salihu Argungu, congratulated the newly promoted officers and reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to transparency and merit-based advancement within the police force. He urged the officers to regard their new ranks as a call to greater responsibility and dedicated service.

He also commended the PSC Standing Committee on Nigeria Police Force Matters, chaired by retired DIG Taiwo Lakanu, for overseeing the examination and interview processes.
