Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has taken a swipe at Arise Television presenter Rufai Oseni, accusing him of being disrespectful in his conduct on air.
In a video shared on his social media page, Edochie alleged that the broadcaster often makes guests uncomfortable during interviews, questioning his approach to journalism.
The actor also referenced a past incident in Lagos where Oseni was reportedly caught driving on a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lane. According to Edochie, the journalist only apologised after footage of the incident surfaced online.
He asked, “Is this not the same Rufai Oseni who was caught driving on a BRT lane?
“When officials stopped you, instead of apologising, you were saying, ‘Do you know who I am? I’ll call the governor of Lagos State.’
“If there was no video evidence, would you have apologised? What would have happened?”
Edochie further criticised Oseni’s interview style, arguing that guests should be treated with respect and made to feel at ease.
“How do you invite someone to your studio and make them uncomfortable? If a guest feels uneasy, the first thing to do is apologise and help them settle in. How can you tell a guest that if they are not comfortable, they can walk out of the studio?
“You insult people on national television. You are very disrespectful. That is not journalism,” he said.
The actor also defended the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging critics to exercise patience with the current government.
“Jagaban Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the President of Nigeria, whether you like it or not. He is our President and deserves respect. He just assumed office; give him time. Rome was not built in a day,” Edochie added.
