Monday Okpebholo has expressed confidence that additional opposition governors will soon defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Edo State governor made the remark on Wednesday in Benin City while receiving defectors into the party, stating that the APC currently has 31 governors across the country.
Okpebholo also appreciated the support of Bola Tinubu and residents of Edo State, noting that their backing has strengthened the party in the state.
He commended the people of Edo for maintaining unity within the party and said more governors were expected to join the APC in the near future. The governor also pledged the state’s support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Meanwhile, the newly elected Edo State APC executive committee, led by Jarrett Tenebe, has endorsed both Tinubu and Okpebholo for second terms in office, citing what it described as their strong performance.
The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Patrick Akhere Ebojele, revealed in a statement that the endorsement was made during the party’s recent congress.
According to Tenebe, the party leadership believes both leaders have demonstrated effective governance and delivered benefits to Nigerians and residents of Edo State.
He also announced the party’s endorsement of Adams Oshiomhole for another term in the Senate, praising his representation of Edo North Senatorial District.
Tenebe thanked party members for their continued support and confidence in the new executive, assuring them that the leadership would work to strengthen the party and advance its goals in the state.
