“I Don’t Love Men” – Laide Bakare Shares Her Views on Relationships

Veteran Nollywood actress Laide Bakare has opened up about her personal perspective on relationships and marriage.

She made the remarks during a television appearance hosted by fellow actress Ayo Adesanya, where the discussion turned to her views on love and living arrangements.

When asked why she would not allow a partner to live with her before marriage, Bakare explained that she has never accommodated a man in her home and has no intention of doing so.

According to her, her feelings toward men differ from conventional expectations. She clarified that she does not “love” men in the traditional sense but instead relates to them through liking, appreciation, and respect.

Speaking further on marriage, the actress emphasized that any man who wishes to marry her must follow proper cultural procedures, including paying her bride price. She stressed that marriage should come with full responsibility on the part of the man.

Bakare also noted that she prefers visiting a man in his home rather than having him stay in hers, insisting that a man should ultimately take responsibility by fulfilling cultural expectations and bringing his wife into his home after marriage.
