A goods-laden truck on Sunday lost control and crashed into the fence of a building in Osisioma, along the Aba–Port Harcourt Expressway, leaving one man dead.
Residents said the deceased, a male who had recently returned from an Asian country where he lives, was among those affected by the accident.
It was gathered that the truck driver lost control before ramming into the structure, hitting a motorcyclist and two other men in the process.
One of the victims died from the impact, while the other two sustained serious injuries and were taken to the hospital by officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Abia State Sector Command.
The exact cause of the crash has not yet been confirmed, as authorities are still investigating whether it resulted from overspeeding or brake failure.
Confirming the incident, the FRSC Abia Sector Commander, Ngozi Ezeoma, stated that the truck crashed into the fence and struck an Okada rider.
“Three adult males were involved, and one lost his life,” she said.
