ADC Faction Suspends Atiku Abubakar, Babachir Lawal Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities

A faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State has announced the suspension of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal.

The decision was made public on Monday by the faction’s state chairman, Raji Sulaiman Zumo, who said it followed consultations among party leaders in the state.

According to Zumo, the suspension stems from allegations that the affected individuals were involved in actions that created division within the party. He stressed that no member, regardless of status or influence, is above the party’s constitution.

Those named in the suspension include Atiku Abubakar, Babachir Lawal, and Sadiq Ibrahim Dasin.

Zumo explained that the move was necessary to restore discipline and unity within the party, accusing the individuals of promoting disunity, establishing parallel structures, undermining party authority, and disregarding existing court orders.

He added that the action was taken in the overall interest of the party to maintain order, protect its integrity, and uphold democratic principles.
