Pastor Arrested in Ghana Over Alleged Attempt to Bury Infant Alive

A Ghanaian pastor has been taken into custody over an alleged attempt to bury a five-month-old baby alive in Abofrem, located in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region.

The suspect, identified as Richmond Akwasi Frimpong, who leads the Anointed Grace Prayer Ministry at Kuffour Camp, was arrested after the shocking incident, which has left residents in disbelief.

Eyewitnesses reported that the pastor, alongside an accomplice, was seen around 11 p.m. at a refuse dump behaving suspiciously while carrying the infant.

One witness, Winfred Agbah, said he became concerned after observing their actions and stepped in, only to discover that the baby was still alive and close to being buried. He immediately raised an alarm, prompting quick intervention that prevented a tragic outcome.

The Chief Linguist of Abofrem, Nana Yaw Badu, disclosed that the suspect had earlier told him the baby had died, which led to discussions about burial arrangements. He added that he was unaware the child was still alive at the time.

The baby girl is currently receiving medical care at a government hospital.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has arrested both the pastor and his alleged accomplice, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
