The All Progressives Congress (APC) has rescheduled its presidential and governorship primary elections.
The party moved its presidential primary from May 15–16 to May 23, 2026, while the governorship primary will now take place on May 21, 2026.
The announcement was made in Abuja by Duro Meseko following a meeting of the party’s National Working Committee.
According to him, the adjustment came after a review of the party’s timetable, which also affected the screening of aspirants and the appeals process. Although the screening exercise has been rescheduled, it will still cover all elective positions, including legislative seats, governorship, and the presidency.
Under the revised schedule, nomination forms will be available for purchase from April 25 to May 2, with completed forms expected to be submitted by May 4. Screening will follow shortly, and results are set to be released on May 11, while appeals from the screening will be handled between May 12 and May 13.
Primaries for various positions will hold on staggered dates: House of Representatives on May 15, Senate on May 18, and State House of Assembly on May 20. The governorship primaries will take place on May 21, with the presidential primary concluding the exercise on May 23.
Post-primary appeals will also be conducted in phases, ending with those related to the presidential primary on May 25.
